The establishment of the Net Zero Delivery Government Body, helmed by the Deputy Chief Minister, marks Gibraltar's ambitious stride towards carbon neutrality. This body orchestrates transformative initiatives, shaping policies that lead Gibraltar towards a sustainable, eco-friendly tomorrow.
Gibraltar's natural heritage finds a haven in the expanded Gibraltar Nature Reserve. From Devil’s Tooth to Europa Foreshore, vital ecosystems are preserved. The newly inaugurated Tovey Cottage serves as a hub of environmental education, connecting visitors to the reserve's diverse flora and fauna.
Guarding Our Wildlife
Dedicated Wildlife Wardens patrol Gibraltar's natural havens, safeguarding its iconic species. The Environmental Protection and Research Unit, equipped with marine protection vessels, ensures the preservation of coastal biodiversity. Their vigilance upholds Gibraltar's rich ecological tapestry.
The creation of the Juan Carlos Perez Promenade offers a new coastal recreational area, inviting citizens to connect with Gibraltar's shores. The expansion and refurbishment of the Tovey Cottage provides an education and up close observation of our migratory birds.
Marine Conservation and Plastic Pollution
Gibraltar takes a resolute stance against plastic pollution by banning plastic bags, plastic cutlery, and products containing microbeads. The sale of plastic bottles in the Gibraltar Nature Reserve is prohibited. These measures preserve marine ecosystems and safeguard Gibraltar's natural beauty.
